Customer Story: Leah Anderson and Andrew Jones
If you’ve ever had a gym crush and brushed it off thinking it wouldn’t lead anywhere, no one could blame you. But a gym crush in South Carolina brought Leah Anderson to MELT — proof that you can follow your heart to good ice cream.
Leah was serving in the Marines on Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, when a crush at the gym led to dating and marrying Andrew Jones, also a Marine. A few months into their marriage, Andrew received orders to Naval Air Station, Ft. Worth. In order to stay together, Leah retired.
One year later and they are as in love with Ft. Worth as any native Cowtowner, despite being from Virginia (Leah) and New York (Andrew). “We never want to leave,” Leah said.
“It’s a Texas city, but very progressive, too,” Andrew said. “You can still get a good bowl of pho.”
They found out about MELT on Yelp. While they love our quality and unique flavors, for Leah and Andrew, it’s also about the atmosphere. MELT is a treat reserved for times when Andrew is in town. Even during a four-month training in the spring, Leah refrained until he was back.
“We spend a lot of time away from each other due to deployments and training and exercises, but when we are together, we make it a priority to grab Melt every Sunday after we take our dogs to the park,” Leah said. “It's our little family event!”
And when the dogs come to MELT, they usually get ice cream. “We try to do it so people don’t see us,” Andrew said. “So they don’t think we’re that crazy.”
Leah was in the Marine Corps for 5 years and Andrew has been in for 13 years and counting. Cheers and thanks to Leah and Andrew for serving our country!
